Batteries for backup power in alarm and smart systems

This 12V 4.5Ah sealed lead‑acid battery is designed to provide backup power to alarm panels, smart home systems and UPS devices when the main power supply fails. Depending on system load, it can supply power for several hours or, in some cases, up to a couple of days.

Battery capacity decreases over time and with operating conditions. To ensure reliable backup performance, replace the battery on average every 1–2 years.

Applications and compatibility

Suitable for initial installation or replacement in security alarm systems, smart installations and UPS units. Compatible with common alarm control panels and systems such as DSC, GE, Interlogix, Honeywell Vista, ADT, Chubb and Rogers, and meets criteria for use in higher‑end systems like Jablotron and Eldes.

Choosing the right battery

  • Check the mechanical dimensions to ensure the battery fits the enclosure.
  • Confirm nominal voltage (12V) and capacity (4.5Ah) as the correct replacement.
  • Verify connector type and mounting method used by your system.

Replacement and maintenance

Replacement is generally straightforward and can be performed by a qualified technician. If a user replaces the battery, basic technical skills and tools are usually sufficient. After replacement the system may report a fault or tamper event; this is normally cleared by entering the user code or via the control app/remote.

Note: Regular professional inspection and maintenance of the complete system remains recommended in addition to battery replacement.
